Size US 8 circular 24 in needle K2tog – Knit next 2 stitches together

Size US 8 double pointed needle Rep – repeat

Blunt darning needle Sl1yb – Slip next stitch purl-wise with yarn in back

Stitch marker Sl1yf – Slip next stitch purl-wise with yarn in front

M – stitch marker

Instructions

Note: All slip sts should be slipped purlwise

Carry color not in use loosely up wrong side of work.

Cast on 81 Sts, Join without twisting by knitting the last and first Sts together. Place marker at the joining

Knit 6 rows of ribbing: K1, P1

Knit 3 rows

1: with contrast A K3, *Sl1yb, K3. Rep from * to marker

2: with A, P3, *Sl1yb, P3. Rep from * to marker

3: with B, K1, *Sl1yb, K3. Rep from * to marker

4: with B, P1, * Sl1yb, P3. Rep from * to marker

rep these 4 rows 2 more times

with A, K until hat is approx 6 ½ inches from start.

Decrease rows

Row 1:* K6, K2tog. Rep from * to marker

Even Rows 2,4,6,8,10 and 12. K

Row 3. * K5, K2tog. Rep from * to marker

Row 5. * K4, K2tog. Rep from * to marker

Row 7. * K3, K2tog. Rep from * to marker

Row 9. * K2, K2tog. Rep from * to marker

Row 11. *K1, K2tog. Rep from * to marker

Row 13. *K2tog. Rep from * to marker

Cut yarn approx 6 inches, thread through remaining stitches, pull tight and fasten off. Weave in ends.

Move to double pointed needles as needed.
